Hadestown Puppet Plus Experience: Adequate Efforts

We mean well. We may never know how these ideas hatch from light-hearted jokes into a full-fledged productions, but all we can do now is look around and say “Well. Here we are.” Some might applaud the efforts put forth leading to this weekend's performance, but then cringe as heads come flying off mid-show, or mouths fail to move in time with lyrics, or limp, lifeless, limbs are Gerry-rigged in the hopes of emulating some facet of recognizable humanity. Yet, in spite of an obvious degree of amateur and childlike crafting, Rainbow Ridge wants to believe:

One day we WILL return to the theaters.

With that shared desire we fuel our joint enthusiasm that perhaps, in some small way, this Saturday's performance will capture a piece of that longing. The story will be told, the roles will be fulfilled, and the music will echo through the sold-out bedroom black box theater. We will come together and pay tribute to a miraculous work of art that captures the imagination of myth and men, while we simultaneously brutalize it at the puppet altar of our dreams and/or nightmares.

Will you leave here having heard most of Hadestown?

Absolutely.

Will you laugh, cry, and be confused?

Entirely possible.

Are you part of a once in a lifetime event?

Oh, indeed.
